Two strains of porcine circovirus, a small DNA virus affecting swine, can infect pigs. The first strain,
porcine circovirus type 1 (PCV1), has not been found to cause any disease in swine. The second strain, porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), is significantly different from PCV1 and has been found to infect and cause disease in pigs.
While a majority of swine farms today have positive results in blood tests for PCV2, only a small percentage actually show signs of having a disease associated with the virus. This indicates that while there is a strong link between PVC2 and various disease syndromes, there are other environmental and management conditions that contribute to disease manifestation.

1. Usage
The porcine circovirous ELISA Test kit is used for detection of porcine circovirus antibodies in the serum; assessment of immunity conditions against porcine circovirus in the pig farm; and investigation of the epidemiology of the porcine circovirus.
2. Brief
The test kit is made up of the antigen coated microplate, enzyme conjugate (HRP goat-anti-pig IgG), and other reagents. It applies the indirect ELISA principle to test the anti-Ⅱ-ORF2 type antibodies of porcine circovirus in the serum.
3. Principle
The test kit is the antigen (Ⅱ-ORF2) coated microplate made from the inactivated, purified and concentrated porcine circovirus. In the test, the diluted control serum and sample are added, then incubate. If the sample exists porcine circovirus (Ⅱ-ORF2) specific antibodies, they will be bound with the antigens of the microplate, the unbound antibodies and other components are removed by washing. Next, add enzyme conjugate (anti-pig IgG-HRP) to specifically bind to the compound of antibody-antigens of the microplate, the unbound enzyme conjugate will be removed by washing, add the TMB substrate into the wells, react and generate a blue color. At last, end the reaction by adding stop solution.
