Hydroxypropyl cellulose (L-HPC)

Character: A white, yellowish-white or greyish-white
powder or granules, soluble in hot and cold water giving a colloidal solution, practically insoluble in acetone, in alcohol and in toluene.
Use:The production is low-substituted hydroxypropyl ether of cellulose, and is mainly used solid preparation collapse agent and bonding agent. Because its powders have great surface area and interstice rate, they accelerate the rate of absorb moisture and increase the ability of swelling. When it is used as troche, it makes troche disintegrate easily. At the same time, it has great inlaid action between its coarse structure and medicament and granule, so it will improve the hardness and luster degree of troche. It can promote to form the mould and improve the hardness of the tablet to the medicament not easy to form the mould, and it can accelerate the disintegration of troche hardly disintegrated, thereby it will quicken the rate of dissolution and separation of medicament and improve the utilization rate of life-form. The dosage is commonly about 2 to 5 percent, and it can be used to make particle with wet means in the troche production, which can be added to the dry granules and be pressed into flakes from inside or outside.
